Authorities in Allegheny County are investigating two separate incidents involving carbon monoxide poisoning, one of which may have led to a woman's death.

Emergency crews were at a home in Homestead after a person was taken to Children's Hospital with possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

Melissa Szalkay, 36, was found dead in her home on Francis Street in West Mifflin on Monday. Police said the car may have been running for hours and that carbon monoxide detectors in the home were going off.

An autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine an exact cause of death.

Also on Monday, a young person was taken to Children's Hospital with what emergency officials said was possible carbon monoxide poisoning, after elevated levels of CO were found in a house on Eleventh Street in Homestead.

Currently, there's no word on that patient's condition.
