A tanker truck filled with nearly 80,000 pounds of sand flipped in Washington County on Thursday morning.

The accident happened along Hathaway Road in Buffalo Township just before 8 a.m.

Rescue crews told Channel 4 Action News the initial call said the truck was leaking fuel and that a school bus may have been involved.

Claysville Fire Chief Brad Simms said when crews got to the scene, they found that wasn't the case.

"The school bus was not involved, just happened to be at the scene. The tanks, the diesel tanks were not leaking and the truck was carrying about 78,000 pounds of sand. A non-hazardous material, none of which leaked," said Simms.

The driver of the truck is recovering at Washington Hospital. Her injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
