BUTLER, Pa. -- A teacher from Cranberry Township was ordered to stand trial on allegations that she sent sexual text messages -- including a picture of a woman's breasts -- to some Butler Senior High School students.
Phone records and witness accounts back up the allegations made by a 16-year-old male student against 33-year-old Christine Elizabeth Martin, according to Butler police.
Martin waived her right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin O'Donnell on Thursday. A trial date has not been set yet.
"She was having a text relationship with this student. She was texting sexual text messages, I guess you could say, and there was at least one photo text of a female exposing breasts," Detective David Fish said.
During the investigation, police said they found a second student -- a 17-year-old girl -- who was sent a text message from Martin, offering her home as a place to drink and party.
Police did not say that Martin had a physical relationship with the students, nor that she intended to do so.
Martin was charged with obscene and other sexual materials and performances, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of a minor, according to police.
Martin was arrested in May. She is free on $25,000 bond.
