The old facility is in Shadyside, but the new one is next to the new Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and is more than twice as large.

It provides a home for families who have children as long-term patients at the hospital.

"It's going to be a great facility, because what they do for these kids and the families is so awesome, and to be now so close to the children's hospital, it just really is an amazing thing," Roethlisberger said.

The new building is scheduled to open in August.

Roethlisberger is an honorary chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
