UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- A Uniontown man is charged with drugging and trying to rape the 13-year-old daughter of his girlfriend, who police said wanted the child to get pregnant for her because she is unable to have a baby herself.
"In exchange for the victim having a child with the mother's boyfriend, she would allow her daughter to marry (the child's) boyfriend," Uniontown Police Det. Donald Gmitter told WTAE Channel 4 Action News.

Watch Janelle Hall's Report The teen's grandmother -- who isn't being identified by WTAE, in an effort to conceal the girl's identity -- said she went to police with the allegations.
"I can't believe someone would do that to their daughter. You don't do that to your kids. A mother does what they can to protect their kids, not exploit them," the grandmother said.
According to the criminal complaint, Uniontown police said the girl told them that she believes she was assaulted by 40-year-old Duane Calloway on three occasions in February and March.
The first time, the girl said she was at Calloway's house and kicked him off her when he touched her while the mother was out getting pizza, according to the complaint.
(NOTE: The mother is not being identified by WTAE Channel 4 Action News to protect the girl's identity.)The next time, the girl reported that she was at home and her mother put alcohol in her drink and she passed out to find herself half-naked, with Calloway in the room when she woke up, according to the complaint.
The third time, the girl said she left school early because she wasn't feeling well and went home. The girl said she fell asleep after drinking a cup of warm tea that her mother made, and she woke up when Calloway pulled a blanket off her and slid his hands into her shorts, according to the complaint.
The girl said she slapped Calloway's hands and stared at him until he left, and she felt something powdery on the roof of her mouth, according to the complaint.
Police removed an empty rum bottle, Tylenol PM and a pill crusher from the trash at the home of the girl's mother, according to the complaint.
Before the alleged assaults began occurring, the girl told police that she refused when her mother asked her in January to have sex with Calloway and get pregnant with his baby, according to the complaint.
Calloway is being held in the county prison on $150,000 cash bond on charges of attempted rape, attempted sexual assault, conspiracy and corruption of minors.
"In my heart, do I believe he wanted a baby? No," the girl's grandmother said. "(The child's mother) was gullible enough to believe he wanted a baby. I say he just wants ... he's a child predator is what he is. And that's all he was after."
The girl's mother, who describes herself as a "proud parent" on her MySpace.com page, surrendered Thursday afternoon on charges of conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and unauthorized administration of an intoxicant.
"She's our granddaughter. We wanted to do what we could to protect her," the child's grandmother said.
Preliminary hearings for both suspects are scheduled for April 7.
