The man whose wife is accused of killing a Pittsburgh FBI agent has been charged in a fraud scheme against Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Robert Korbe, 39, of Glenshaw, along with Ronald Burkarth, 50, of Gibsonia, has been indicted on mail fraud charges relating to insurance claims.

According to the indictment, Korbe called police and the insurance company to report a burglary at his home while he and his family were on vacation in August 2008.

Korbe alleged that his motorcycle and other personal items were stolen.

Korbe was insured by Liberty Mutual in a homeowner's insurance policy and a motorcycle insurance policy.

According to the indictment, Korbe arranged for Burkarth to take the motorcycle from his home while he was on vacation, resulting in Korbe collecting a $29,000 insurance claim.

Korbe is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting trial on charges in a federal drug-trafficking indictment.

Korbe's home on Woods Run Road was raided by a task force trying to execute a drug warrant on Nov. 19. During the raid, his wife, Christina, shot and killed FBI Special Agent Sam Hicks.

Christina Korbe's lawyer, John Elash, contends that his client didn't know Hicks was an FBI agent, and she thought she was protecting her sleeping children from an early-morning intruder.

Christina Korbe is being held in Cambria County on a second-degree murder charge. She was transferred there from the Allegheny County Jail shortly before Christmas.
