Pittsburgh Police Report - Super Bowl Damage/Arrests

This is a copy of the Pittsburgh Police Bureau's media advisory that was issued after Super Bowl XLIII.

  • Failure to Disperse 63
  • Arson 1
  • Domestic Violence 6
  • DUI 5
  • Drugs 2
  • Propulsion of Missiles 1
  • Escape 1
  • Assault 2
  • Aggravated Assault 2 (not include above assault number)
  • Risking a Catastrophe 2
  • Disorderly Conduct 2
  • 1 Juvenile arrest for Failure to Disperse (not included in above number)

    FIRES:
  • 5 OAKLAND - Multiple - Couches, Garbage Cans, Dumpster, Car
  • 5 SOUTH SIDE - Multiple - Garbage Cans
  • 5 OTHER - Northview Heights - Dumpster

    INJURED PERSONNEL:
  • One (1) injured PBP Officer in Oakland; Non life-threatening injury - possible broken arm.

    NOTATIONS:
  • Numerous bottles have been thrown at officers in Oakland.
  • Numerous garbage can, dumpster and couch fires across city. Most fires have been centered in Oakland and Southside.
  • Crowds of people migrated to the North Shore. No incident.
  • Crowds of people (75-100) spilled onto Brookline Blvd. Minimal damage.
  • Est. crowd of 1500 btw. 10th and 29th on Southside / Gridlock 2230hrs
  • Est. 800 people Southside; Crowd dispersing 2400hrs
  • Minimal non-life threatening injuries (cuts, falls etc.)
  • Several cars over-turned in Oakland; one set on fire 2430hrs
  • Windows broken at Hillman Library / Brueggers Bagels - Oakland. Actor from Brueggers arrested.
  • State Police Horse hit with a bottle; Actor arrested.
  • Est. 50 people Southside. Crowds began to dissipate at 2430hrs. Substantial amount of arrests.
  • South Side secured at 0100hrs.
  • Crowds began to dissipate from Oakland
  • Windows broken at Commonwealth Bank at 4900 Liberty Avenue. No entry was made. Bank key holder was notified and bank secured.
  • Minor skirmished in 4000-4300 block of Butler St. No injuries or arrests.
