Waterfront Damon's Restaurant Sued Over Fatal ShootingEmployee, 19, Shot Dead In RobberyPOSTED: 7:43 am EST January 23, 2009 WEST HOMESTEAD, Pa. -- The Damon's Grill restaurant in The Waterfront shopping district is being sued by the family of a young employee who was killed during a robbery.Brian Lee's family claims Damon's and Developers Diversified Realty were negligent in his July 13 death because they didn't provide enough security at the restaurant on West Waterfront Drive.Police have said Lee, 19, of West Mifflin, was shot while he tried to keep an armed robber out of the restaurant as employees prepared to close up for the night.WTAE Channel 4's news exchange partner, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, reported that Lee's family believes the owners should have known there were security problems because there was a deadly shooting at an Eat 'n Park restaurant just up the street from Damon's one month earlier. No arrests have been made in Lee's killing. Police said surveillance footage was not available at the restaurant.Developers Diversified Realty leases and manages Waterfront property. The two shootings prompted the company to add more police officers and security patrols.Earlier this month, a Homeland Security grant was approved to install security cameras at all of the Waterfront's entrances and exits.
