Police in Washington County are trying to figure out who vandalized a cemetery.

Investigators said that sometime on Saturday night or Sunday morning someone spray-painted gravestones and left graffiti on statues at Saint Luke's Cemetery, which is behind the Ave Maria Catholic Church in Bentleyville.

The Rev. Gary Krummert of the Ave Maria Parish said the the vandals even defaced the driveway and nearby signs.

"It's just very disheartening and sickening to see, especially because we have some gravestones with pictures embedded into the stones and the vandals took the time to paint over the pictures," Krummert said.

A nearby youth baseball park was also vandalized. Police said that so far they do not have any suspects in the case.
