More money is coming for the Pittsburgh Promise Scholarship.

On Tuesday night the scholarship received a check for $13,500 from the Summer Celebration party held in honor of Pittsburgh's 250th birthday.

Although that event was a smashing success, Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said there are still other ways for people to give.

"I also want to note that this year on the tax forms, there is a box where one can check and decide to donate a portion of their givings to the Pittsburgh Promise. So we encourage people, if you have the ability to do so, to please consider the Pittsburgh Promise," Ravenstahl said.

The Pittsburgh Promise's ultimate goal is to offer scholarships to qualified students of up to $10,000 a year.
