The Commonwealth Medical Center in Aliquippa, Beaver County, shut down Friday, leaving 270 people without a job.

The hospital, which suffered from declining admissions and heavy financial losses for years, filed for bankruptcy protection just four days earlier.

The nursing facility will stay open until three remaining residents being treated are either discharged or relocated.
