Bus Driver Accused Of Assaulting Mentally Challenged WomenPOSTED: 5:41 pm EST December 1,
2008 GREENSBURG, Pa. -- A Westmoreland County bus driver has been accused of assaulting four mentally challenged women while he drove them to therapy and school.Investigators said the driver would pull over on the side of the road and fondle them."Any sort of sexual assault is alarming, but when you're taking advantage of someone in this particular circumstance or a child, it's worse," said Trooper Jeanne Martin of the Pennsylvania State Police.Martin said one of the women told a caregiver about the sexual contact.Martin said the driver worked for a private bus company that carried the mentally handicapped women from several county facilities.Police are not identifying the driver or the facilities until they have all the details. That has not proved to be an easy task."As you can imagine, when you're interviewing a victim, it can be sometimes difficult to illicit the information that you need. When you're talking to a person who is mentally challenged, it becomes even more difficult," said Martin.Police said once they complete their interviews, they plan to charge the bus driver with at least four counts of indecent assault. They're investigating the possibility of more victims.
