A new group will soon be working to promote awareness at the Flight 93 crash site in Shanksville.

The National Park Service approved the formation of a nonprofit friends group for the Flight 93 memorial on Saturday.

Our news exchange partners at The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that the group would serve as an outlet for volunteer service and help promote the heroism of the passengers and crew.

The $58 million permanent memorial is expected to open Sept. 11, 2011.
