A woman shot a man in an incident of road rage along Interstate 279 in Pittsburgh around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

According to a news release, police believe 24-year-old Ericka Johnson inadvertently cut 59-year-old Harry Titus off while exiting Route 28 onto I-279. Police said Titus then drove his vehicle past Johnson and stopped. Johnson drove around Titus but Titus stopped in front of Johnson again, forcing her vehicle to stop after crossing the Fort Duquesne Bridge, in the area of the Fort Pitt Museum on the Parkway Connector.

Police said Titus got out of his car, and started yelling at Johnson before reaching through the car's window and punching her in the face. Johnson then pulled out a gun and shot Titus in the stomach. Titus then got back in his vehicle and drove himself to a Best Western Hotel. Johnson drove herself to the Port Authority Police Department.

"She turned herself in," state police Trooper Robin Mungo said. "She went straight to, I think, Port Authority police, and he went to a hotel, and that's where we found him."

Titus, who is from Stuebenville, Ohio, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is still being treated for the gunshot wound.

State police said the woman was licensed to carry the gun and it appears that no charges will be filed, but the final decision will be made by the district attorney's office.
