Police said it only took one phone call for them to nab the suspect in a shooting on Sunday night in Hazelwood.

Police said the shooting was reported at about 9:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Johnston Avenue.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, was shot five times in the chest and torso, according to officials. He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Police arrived at the scene to investigate and said the shooter had taken off.

But around 10:30 p.m. they got a call from Robert McGowan, the suspect in the case. McGowan called from the north side to turn himself in.

McGowan is expected to be arraigned on Monday afternoon.

The victim in the shooting remains in critical condition at the hospital.
