2008 PITTSBURGH -- A math curriculum coach in the Pittsburgh Public Schools was arrested and accused of having sexual Internet chats with an undercover Naval detective who was posing as a 12-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.Daniel Toler, 46, of the Highland Park neighborhood, worked at Sunnyside Elementary School in Stanton Heights.A representative for the school district said Toler was supposed to co-teach this year, but the district suspended him before the school year started.Investigators said Toler came to their attention during an online undercover operation attempting to identify adults trying to engage in sex acts with minors.During the investigation, investigators said Toler contacted an undercover officer in a Yahoo chat room. The officer was using a fictitious identity of a 29-year-old mother with two 12-year-old children.According to the criminal complaint from Pittsburgh police, during subsequent chats Toler contacted the undercover officer and told her he would "love to have a young girl to play with and adore." The complaint also states Toler encouraged the officer, whom he believed to be the mother, to engage in sex acts with her children, who he believed were a 12-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. The complaint states Toler also exposed himself via webcam to what he believed were the mother and her children. The complaint also said Toler downloaded pictures and videos of child pornography to his personal computer and a school-issued laptop. The undercover agent was working for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, according to the complaint.Toler is free on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing on charges of unlawful contact with a minor and possession of child pornography and criminal attempt to commit obscenity is set for Thursday.WTAE Channel 4 Action News tried to speak with Toler but nobody answered the door at his home Tuesday afternoon."Kids play around this neighborhood all the time, so it's kind of scary," parent Chris Noonan.Noonan and fellow residents were shocked by the revelation."I had no idea.
