A man is under arrest after police said he tried to abduct two young girls from a bus stop.

Officers said they were able to track down Law Bay, 26, thanks to the quick thinking of the intended victims, who were able to remember the license plate of the suspect's car

The two eighth-grade girls were waiting at a bus stop outside their apartment complex along East Pittsburgh-McKeesport Road, when a car came speeding by. Chief James Comunale of the North Versailles police department said that's when the driver made a move.

"Stopped abruptly past the driveway, backed up into the driveway, rolled down the passenger window and told the girls 'get in the car,'" Comunale said.

The girls took off running and screaming. Then the bus arrived.

"Evidently the man saw the bus coming down behind him and took off," said Comunale.

Beckie Kolano is the mother of one of the victims. She says this has been tough on her daughter.

"Right now it's not affecting her. If it will in the future I'm not sure," Kolano said

Kolano said she is proud of how her daughter reacted. Once on the bus, the girls noticed the car at a stop light.

"So one of the little girls got the license number of the car, so the bus driver and the girls both looked at the car and got a better description," Comunale said.

A short time later, North Versailles police were able to find the car and arrest the driver, Law Bay. Police say the girls did everything correctly.

John Besseck is the father of one of the girls. He said he's proud of how his daughter handled the situation.

"The one thing we talked to her a million times about this. It's one thing that now I feel better. All the talking we've done has actually paid off," Besseck said.

Police said Bay admitted to being in the area, but claims he never went near the girls.

"We don't know what his motive was and without him talking to us, we'll never know what his motive was," Comunale said.
