Police removed 19 dogs during an early Wednesday morning raid at homes in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, WTAE's Sheldon Ingram reported.

The raid was conducted in the 2000 block of Lamont Avenue, McKeesport; the 2000 block of Baldwin Avenue, just one block from Lamont; and a home in Jeannette.

Dogs found in the homes are suspected of being bred for use in illegal, arranged fights, Ingram reported.

Dogfighting literature, collars and other evidence was confiscated, police said.

No one was arrested and no charges were filed. The investigation is ongoing, according to the state Attorney General's office.
