A shooting in Pittsburgh's St. Clair Village section injured a student and school van driver Thursday afternoon.

The driver was approaching his last stop of the day near the corner of Mountain and Creswell streets around 4:30 p.m. when someone fired several shots into the school van.

Otis Mickens's son was dropped off just minutes before the shooting started.

"He had just got off the bus, and he said the shots rang out," said Mickens. "He ran. He knew it was the proper thing to do, and then after the scene was clear he went back to check to see if everybody was OK."

Police said the driver was able to get help. While in the van, he was grazed on the outer thigh and the teenager riding the van was hit twice in the arm.

Police searched the area, but the gunman got away. No arrests have been made.

"You know, it's bad enough living up here with these kids and guns," Mickens said. "You know, he coulda got shot, but he didn't. Really scared me when I heard about it."

Police increased patrols in the St. Clair Village area.

If you have information regarding the double shooting, call Pittsburgh police.
