Two homicide detectives from the Pittsburgh Police Bureau are being called heroes for their actions in a Strip District shootout.

Detectives George Satler and Timothy Rush were honored at City Council chambers Thursday morning.

Police said David Price, 30, of Grampian, appeared to throw an object at the two detectives' unmarked car in the 2600 block of Smallman Street late on the night of March 21.

When Satler and Rush got out of their car, they said Price began shooting at them and hit Satler in the back. Rush returned fire, killing Price.
