A 29-year-old escaped suspect from North Carolina has been found by U.S. Marshals hiding out in a local neighborhood.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Tad Thompson said Chavis Hargro was arrested in the 500 block of B Drive in West Mifflin on Wednesday.

A warrant for his arrest was issued on June 8, 2008, in the Western District of North Carolina on crack cocaine conspiracy.

Hargro was arrested by local police in Shelby, N.C., but escaped from the Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center on June 9, 2008.

Marijuana and two handguns were found at the time of his arrest.

In 2000, Hargro shot a police officer while attempting to escape custody in Shelby.

The officer survived the shooting.
