The Indiana County Coroner's office reports a miner was killed in a coal mine accident early Friday morning.

Coroner Michael Baker said William D. Pardee, 62, of Elder Township, Cambria County, was pronounced dead at the Nolo Mine on Simons Rock Road at 5:39 a.m.

Officials said they believe Pardee was moving a feeder machine near a beltway when he apparently got pinned between the feeder and the mine wall.

The coroner has listed the death as accidental.

This is the second fatal accident at that mine this year. (Read article from The Tribune-Democrat: Worker Killed At Nolo Mine)

The Nolo Mine is owned and operated by Amfire Mining of Latrobe.

Funeral arrangements for Pardee are being coordinated by Moriconi Funeral Home in Northern Cambria.
