The Southwest Regional Police Department is investigating two overnight home invasions in Belle Vernon.

The break-ins occurred one block from each other between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday.

A robber first broke into a home on Grand Avenue and stole two purses.

The purses contained $70, credit cards, and a key to the home, police said.

A few hours later, someone stole another purse and a car from the driveway of a home on Graham Avenue, police said.

The stolen vehicle is described as a silver 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix with Pennsylvania license plate EJS-6700.

The car has dark tinted windows and a large New York Yankees symbol in the rear window, police said.

In both cases, the robber cut through screen doors to gain entry to the homes, police said.

Residents at both homes were sleeping when the homes were broken into, police said.

No one was injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Southwest Regional Police Department at (724)929-8484.
