An attempted robbery at an Eat 'n Park restaurant in Westmoreland County didn't quite go right for the would-be thief.

The restaurant's 18-year-old night-shift manager, Amanda Jury, said she's no hero.

"I never thought this was ever going to happen to me in my entire life," Jury said.

Just before 3 a.m., Jury wrestled a knife away from a woman who was trying to rob the restaurant on Route 30 in Unity Township, Westmoreland County, state police said.

"I thought it was a regular night," Jury said. "As she was walking up to me, (I thought she was a) regular question. (She said,) 'Where's my server? Where's the bathroom?' something like that. I never expected a knife to come out," Jury said.

Julian Upholster, 20, of Latrobe, allegedly confronted Jury and demanded money.

"I just grabbed the wrist where the knife was to try to pull it out and she started biting me and slapping me," Jury said. "I've never been in a fight in my entire life. I didn't know what I was going to do but I've learned that if I need to, I can defend myself."

Upholster remained held Tuesday night in the Westmoreland County Prison.
