Bigfoot is real, and it's missing in Armstrong County.

A 30-inch wood-like carving of the mythical creature was stolen this week from Niki's Quick Six in Kiski Township.

"We just want him back," store owner Niki Hosack said. "He's our mascot here, and we miss him, you know? He was enjoyment for everyone."

Employees said the item was a gift to Hosack, who put it in the shop to attract attention. It quickly became popular.

"It kind of grew on everybody. Eventually, people would get their pictures taken, go over and sit by it, buy him a beer," Hosack said.

Kiski Township police said one man distracted store clerk Stephanie Campitella while another man hid Bigfoot inside his coat, and Campitella didn't notice what had happened until the statue was gone.

A sign outside the store is asking for help to get Bigfoot back, and a $100 reward is being offered. Tips can be e-mailed to bringhomesasquatch@yahoo.com.

"I won't press any charges. I won't do anything," Hosack said. "All I want is him safe, one piece, on my deck when I show up one of these times."
