Two twin brothers were found guilty Monday of killing an 18-year-old North Side man who was picking up a friend's nephews for a Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park.

Jehru Donaldson, 18, was found shot in the head in a parked car on Brighton Place on July 8, 2007, police said. He died the next day at Allegheny General Hospital.

Davon and Jovon Knox, both 18, were convicted of second-degree murder in Donaldson's death. They will be sentenced later.

Police said the Knoxes had plans to steal Donaldson's car. Donaldson was in the wrong place at the wrong time while trying to do something positive, police said.

Gail Gruendler, a longtime friend, said she and Donaldson talked or saw each other nearly every day through their work with the Urban Impact Foundation.

She was with Donaldson's best friend when the shooting happened. She said the two were talking on the phone and she heard the whole incident.

"He heard someone say, 'Get out of the car,' and he could hear Jehru say, 'Just chill. Just chill.' And then he heard the gunshot, but he didn't realize it was a gunshot at the time," Gruendler said.

Donaldson was a recent graduate of Oliver High School and had planned to attend Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
