Google Wants Boring Pittsburgh Lawsuit Moved To Federal Court

Franklin Park Couple Claims House Photo Violated Privacy

POSTED: 11:24 am EDT May 22, 2008

Google Inc. wants a lawsuit filed by a Franklin Park couple over online photos of their house moved to federal court in Pittsburgh.

Aaron and Christine Boring say photos of their Oakridge Lane home violated their privacy, devalued their property and caused them mental suffering. They are seeking more than $25,000 in damages.

The couple filed the suit in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court, targeting the company over street-level images that were available through Google Maps' "Street View" tool.

Since the suit was filed in April, a photo of the Boring home has been removed from Street View. In its place is a note that says, "This image is no longer available."

Google has said that there is an easy process on its Web site for homeowners to request removal of images without taking legal action.

The Borings' lawyer did not immediately respond to a message from the Associated Press seeking comment Thursday.

A picture of the couple's house is still posted on the county's real estate Web site.
