WILKINSBURG, Pa. -- Police are investigating an armed robbery and assault that took place at the Wilkinsburg McDonald's on Penn Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Police said they believed the masked man, who was armed with a gun, used the roof to break into the building at about 4:30 a.m.

Police said the robber waited for employees to arrive and then ordered them into a room in which the safe was located. He fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

One of the women, police said, was pushed to the ground and had a few cuts to her face.

Police are reviewing surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
