The Allegheny County bomb squad was called into action Wednesday night after police in Crafton went to a house with a search warrant looking for a 17-year-old Carlynton High School student.

Removed from the home on Cross Street were an improvised explosive device and a Molotov cocktail with a wick that smelled of gasoline, police officials said. They said the devices will be tested at the county lab.

A friend of the unidentified Carlynton junior said he could not believe the boy was the target of the seizure.

"He's not popular. He's a little bit more quiet, but if you know him, he'll talk to you. He's a really great person to be around," Blake Asti said.

Police said they evacuated two homes as a precaution.

They said arrest warrants have not been issued in connection with the search.
