Ex-Pittsburgh Councilwoman Charged Airfare After Indictment

PITTSBURGH -- A former Pittsburgh councilwoman who is in jail for getting kickbacks charged two personal plane tickets to Las Vegas to her city credit card after she had already been indicted.Twanda Carlisle is serving up to two years in state prison for receiving more than $43,000 in kickbacks.City Controller Michael Lamb said he was shocked Thursday to receive an eight-month-old bill for the plane tickets to Las Vegas.
Carlisle was arraigned in the kickback scheme in April 2007.Lamb said he would not pay the bill until he gets a guarantee from the city's Law Department that Carlisle will return the money.According to the invoice, Carlisle flew to Las Vegas with her mother, Constance Parker. Parker said she doesn't recall the trip.
