Meadows Casino Confirms $2B In Payouts Since Opening

The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County reports $2 billion in payouts since it opened.

In the last quarter of 2008, the Meadows has provided $370 million in payouts, which is $5 million more than the Mountaineer in Chester, W.Va. and $18 million more than Wheeling Island.

The Meadows has about 1,800 slot machines, while Mountaineer has 3,200 and Wheeling Island 2,100.

According to the president of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, the surrounding area has seen an increase in tourism, economic development and job creation since the casino opened in June.
