2008 ALIQUIPPA, Pa. -- The father of a 1-year-old girl will stand trial in connection with her scalding death at the family's Linmar Terrace home in Aliquippa, Beaver County.Troy Moon, 37, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of another person.Police said Moon's daughter, Trinity, suffered third-degree burns caused by a pot of boiling water on April 19, which was the girl's birthday. She died from her injuries on April 23 at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh. The girl's mother, Delonda Tucker, 30, was also burned in the incident. She was taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital where she was treated and released.Initially, based on an interview with the mother, police said they believed the incident was an accident."The original version was that the mother was lifting the pot off of the stove and tripped on the (child's) walker and spilled the water onto the child," Aliquippa Police Chief Ralph Pallante said.Later, the woman changed her story."The father had been drinking the majority of the day, and her and him got into a verbal altercation," Pallante said. "He went into the kitchen and started throwing things. He hit the pot of boiling water with his hand and knocked it over on the child."Moon is being held in the county jail.
