Downtown Meeting Held To Get Public's Input

PITTSBURGH -- A public meeting will be held Monday to consider plans for a Market Square makeover that the city hopes will attract more visitors and businesses to its downtown gathering spot.Public comments will be accepted at the meeting, scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Harris Theater on Liberty Avenue downtown. Comments can also be e-mailed to MarketSquare@DowntownPittsburgh.com until 5 p.m. on May 15.There are three possible designs that would include more restaurants, shops, green space and a plan to re-create storefronts of years past.
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl said he hopes to begin construction by fall or early 2009.Watch Amber Nicotra's report on WTAE Channel 4 Action News at 5 p.m. Refresh this page later for updates.
