HOMESTEAD, Pa. -- A structural engineer will survey the Homestead Police Department on Monday after part of the building collapsed late Sunday night. No one inside was hurt, but the building is closed until further notice. The reason for the partial collapse is still not known. Police believe it may have been caused by a lightning strike that happened at about 11 p.m. Sunday.
The damage isn't visible from the outside. Those who have been inside told Channel 4 Action News that some tiles fell from the roof and hit the floor, causing significant damage.Estimates to fix the police station's roof have not been completed. The Homestead Police Department has been in the news lately. Just a couple of weeks ago, the Greater Pittsburgh Paranormal Society said it thought the building was haunted after it investigated a series of strange noises and phenomena reported by employees.
