The Meadows Casino and Racetrack in Washington County is currently a temporary slots parlor but not for long.

Officials unveiled new, approved plans for its $155 million permanent casino. Originally, 1,800 slot machines were slated for the permanent 350,000-square-foot casino, which is set to open in spring 2009, but that number has been bumped to 4,200.

The state Gaming Control Board made two other changes to the overall plan. The first is a five-level parking garage, which will replace the spot where a hotel was going to originally go.

And a 16- to 18-lane bowling alley will be constructed on the bottom level of the parlor.

The upgrade in number of slots will be placed on an additional 30,000-square-foot gaming floor.

Casino officials said the permanent building would provide 750 jobs.
