PITTSBURGH -- Big changes are coming to Pittsburgh's Market Square. In recent years, the downtown area became a gathering place for drug dealers, but the tides are changing.Market Square is becoming a place to shop, eat and gather. Police said the drug dealing is a thing of the past after major crackdowns shut down numerous businesses.
Giggles, a former novelty store, could soon turn into a Dunkin Donuts. And the former M and M bar will most likely turn into an upscale bar called Sante, with wine, cheese and desserts for sale.A downtown partnership representative said there are hopes to transform one of the former businesses into a faux Parisian alley. On top of the new bars and restaurants, a new Gold's Gym is opening, too.Mix-Stirs Café already opened last fall, along with the new Crazy Mocha Coffee. And Moe's Southwest Grill is scheduled to open in summer.
