A heavily traveled road in Scott Township was closed Monday due to a gas leak.

The gas line bordering Scrubgrass Road near Raven Drive ruptured at about 6 p.m.

Police said some houses in the area were evacuated.

The gas line was a private well -- the ruptured line was capped by equitable gas.

Everyone was able to re-enter their homes Monday night and Scrubgrass Road was reopened.

There were no injuries or illnesses reporteded.

Police said crews are still trying to determine which gas company owns the line.
