Pittsburgh's first leap year baby was born early Friday morning at Allegheny General Hospital.

Ava Anne was born at 1:36 a.m. She weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces and was delivered by Dr. Arc Balest, who also was a leap year baby.

"I'm happy to share the day," said Balest. "I love celebrating my birthday, and I'm happy to share it with her. She is two months early, which actually is not super early. She needs a little bit of support, because her lungs are not completely matured, but she is doing very well."

On Friday, Balest celebrated her 12th leap year birthday.

Incidentally, Ava's grandma is also a leap year baby, too.
