Pittsburgh Public School parents are upset with the district's decision to hold school on Wednesday, especially with the snowy weather and icy roads.

Beth Jamsion was like many parents in the Pittsburgh Public School System on Wednesday. She said she was nervous about sending her two children to school because of the snowy conditions.

"It should have been delayed," she said. "You're putting kids in harms way."

There were plenty of reports of buses not being able to make it up many of the citiy's side streets and hills.

"I found the driving a little bit difficult," said school bus driver Pat Kinnear.

Kinnear said she could not make it to some of her stops, so in many cases, parents had to take their children to the bus.

"We do have snow stops, so parents should know if we can't make it to the stop where you should catch the bus," said Kinnear.

"This morning was a tough one," said Pittsburgh Public School Superintendent Mark Roosevelt.

Roosevelt said he tried to make a decision about delays of cancellations by 5 a.m. Wednesday. He said he and the transportation director felt they could get students to school before the trouble on the roads began.

"This morning's decision was a safety-related decision, and if we had known what we know now, maybe it would have been different, but we had no way of knowing," said Roosevelt.

Bethel Park got its high school and middle school students to school but had to cancel classes in kindergarten through sixth grade.
