There are plenty of reasons to love this city -- and as part of its 250th anniversary, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl asked Pittsburghers to say why, in 50 words or less.

After more than 150 responses, the Top 11 "Love Letters" have been announced.

The city's top cupids stood beside Ravenstahl on Wednesday for a lunchtime reception as he recognized them for their distinctive "Pittsburgh Valentines."

One contest winner -- Cameron Greenaway, of Baldwin -- said she loved the city because, "In Pittsburgh, kids can see a live polar bear swim right over your head (at the zoo), pretend the dinosaurs are alive (at the Carnegie Museum), ride the Jack Rabbit three times in a row at the coolest park ever (Kennywood). Kids can grow up in a city that is one big playground for fun."

Shalin Bhandari, a contest winner from Bridgeville, said, "I love Pittsburgh because I love the Mellon Arena, our sports teams, the incline, museum and Mellon building. The three rivers is neat. I like going to Macy's and the Macy's bakery shop. The decorations they did on Christmas, the musical fountain, the zoo we have, and the skyline. I love Pittsburgh a lot."

Another winning applicant, Tony Griffith, of Brookline, said "who doesn't love spilling a little IC Light on their Big Ben (Roethlisberger) jersey while eating a Primanti's 'sammich,' cheering on the Steelers?"

The city plans to post all of the winning letters on its Web site.
