The federal courthouse downtown is closed for a second straight day due to a power outage caused by an electrical problem on Tuesday morning.

People arriving at the building were told that water sweeped into a sub-basement area, damaging an electrical system and knocking out the power.

The ongoing trial of former Allegheny County Coroner Dr. Cyril Wecht is among a handful of cases that are postponed because of the electrical problems.

Wecht, 76, is accused of using his government staff as bookkeepers, secretaries, couriers and gofers for his family and his private pathology practice, which grossed nearly $9 million from 1997 through 2004.
