Celebrity pathologist Cyril Wecht will use an off day from his federal fraud trial to autopsy the exhumed body of a Lawrence County man.

Jason Tomei and his brother are paying Wecht to autopsy the body of their father Joseph Tomei on Friday. He died at age 59 in 2006.

The Tomei brothers disagree with the Lawrence County coroner who says their father died of a heart attack.

The brothers have battled their stepmother, Edith Tomei, for the right to exhume the body. They are also fighting her in court over $250,000 in their father's retirement account and life insurance proceeds.

"There have been some things leading up to this that seemed a little bit suspicious," said Jason Tomei. "And even after he had passed and we wanted to get an autopsy, his widow was blocking us from getting this autopsy. We just want to find out what happened to him."

Wecht's trial on charges he used his former Allegheny County coroner's staff for personal gain recesses each Friday.
