Greensburg Rd. Bridge Over Pa. Turnpike Demolished, Replaced

UPDATED: 1:18 pm EDT August 21, 2008

A bridge carrying Route 136 (Greensburg Road) over the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Arona, Westmoreland County, will be opened to traffic Friday.

The new two-lane bridge replaces an old one that was demolished at milepost 70.4, between the Irwin and New Stanton exits.

The Turnpike Commission said the bridge is designed to accommodate the widening of the turnpike to six lanes between Irwin and New Stanton.
