Crash Shuts Down I-79 South Near Meadow Lands

Interstate 79 southbound was shut down Monday afternoon due to an accident near the Meadow Lands exit in Washington County.

According to police, a minivan traveling northbound on I-79 rear-ended another car. Police said the car lost control, crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming vehicle.

Police said two people were flown to Pittsburgh-area hospitals.

There is no word on what caused the crash or how bad the injuries are.
