Wal-Mart Robber Reportedly Strikes Service PlazaWashington County Robber Has Struck 4 TimesPOSTED: 5:17 p.m. EDT June 4, 2002 SOUTH STRABANE, Pa. -- Police in Washington County said that the suspect who robbed a Bentleyville service plaza Sunday night is the same robber who has held up a Wal-Mart bank several times.
FBI officials reviewed surveillance tape from the Amoco service station, 200 Wilson Road, and confirmed that the robber is Timothy Michael Green, said South Strabane police Sgt. Walter Alrutz.
The Northwest Savings Bank in the Trinity Point Wal-Mart Supercenter was robbed June 11 as unsuspecting customers shopped.
It was the third time the bank was been robbed in an eight-day period. Police said the same man (pictured, right) is responsible.
Green, 37, is being sought on charges of robbery and theft. Police said he is basically a drifter, and sometimes stays with people he knows.
Green is 5-feet-10 and 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has been driving a silver, 1990 Mustang with a blue, convertible top.
Police said that Green has passed notes to tellers, gets the money, then blends in among shoppers. He's made getaways by strolling past checkout lanes and out an exit, police said.
Green is also suspected in the May 29 robbery of National City Bank inside the Canonsburg Shop N Save.
A $2,000 reward is being offered. Anyone with information is asked to contact South Strabane police or the FBI at (412) 432-4000.Copyright 2002 by ThePittsburghChannel. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. |
