Call 4 Action: Comcast, Verizon TV Rates Going Up In Pittsburgh AreaPOSTED: 4:40 pm EST December 26, 2007 Television customers who subscribe to Comcast cable or Verizon FiOS service will see their bills increase in the new year.Call 4 Action reporter Aaron Saykin said those customers who currently pay $51.51 a month for standard Comcast cable will have to pay $54.48 starting Feb. 1. That's an increase of 5.8 percent. The rate hike may be a bit smaller -- about 4.5 percent -- for the average customer who typically subscribes to multiple Comcast services, Saykin said.Starting in mid-February, Verizon's $42.99 TV package will cost $47.99 -- an increase of nearly 12 percent.Earlier this year, when Verizon FiOS launched its service locally, Call 4 Action asked Verizon Pennsylvania president William Petersen if the company's entry into the marketplace would guarantee lower prices."What I can guarantee is what we've seen elsewhere, which is, the incumbent cable company is forced to respond to this," Petersen said at the time.Comcast has been adding high-definition TV stations and on-demand features. It said the February rate increase will reflect the new services it's offering. Talk About It: Are You Happy With Your TV Service?
