A Westmoreland County neighborhood said it is on alert -- waiting to learn who scrawled hate-filled messages on homes.

As they scrub away the graffiti, residents said they are pushing police to find the people who did it.

Two families in Murrysville said they are feeling violated and offended after troubling -- if confusing -- messages marred their homes.

One man said he spent his Sunday afternoon scrubbing the side of his house where someone left the word Nazi and a swastika in blue spray paint.

"It makes you feel horrible -- you feel violated," said the man, who declined to be identified.

He went on to say that the anti-Semitic comments were very alarming to his wife. She said she is not Jewish and is having a hard time trying to explain the messages of hate to her children.

"I have three small children and they don't understand it," said the woman, who also refused to be identified. "It's scary for them. And the people who thought it may be funny or a good time: I hope it happens to them someday."

Meanwhile, another neighbor in the Heritage Estates neighborhood, also in Murrysville, dealt with homophobic slur -- also in blue spray paint.

The man living at the house said he is married with kids and is concerned about the vandalism.

"I'm very upset about what happened," said the man.

Police said there aren't many clues, but neighbors are hoping the few that they do have may lead to finding the people behind the graffiti.

"I'm almost 6 feet, so the guy whose painted this has got to be 6 feet tall to reach all the way up there," said the man.

Police are investigating both cases but asked anyone with information to call Murrysville police.
