The son of state Sen. Bob Regola faced a juvenile court judge Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge in connection with the death of his neighbor.

Bobby Regola, 17, of Hempfield Township, is accused of illegally having the gun which was used to shoot Louis Farrell, 14, last year.

The Westmoreland County coroner ruled Farrell's death a suicide after hearing testimony at an open inquest.

Because Wednesday's proceedings were held in juvenile court, the hearing was closed to the public and attorneys were not allowed to discuss what happened.

According to our news exchange partners at the Tribune Review, the judge has found Regola delinquent.

Sen. Regola is awaiting trial on charges that he lied under oath at the coroner's inquest.
