Dying Carnegie Mellon University professor Randy Pausch might have more time to live than he and his doctors originally thought.

Pausch, who is dying of pancreatic cancer, recently found out that the chemotherapy that he has taken to slow the spread of his cancer appears to be doing more. The tumors in his spleen are gone, and the dozen tumors in his liver either are stable or shrinking.

According to WTAE Channel 4's news exchange partners at the Tribune-Review, doctors estimate the chemo might buy Pausch an extra two to four months of life.

Pausch stepped onto the world stage last month when he gave a philosophical lecture that has been downloaded from the Internet more than one million times worldwide.

On Monday, he appeared on "Oprah" to explain how much his life has changed since giving the speech.
