Police Called To Domestic Situation With Pittsburgh Steelers' Najeh Davenport

POSTED: 4:52 pm EDT October 5, 2007
UPDATED: 6:31 pm EDT October 5, 2007

No charges were filed but police were called when Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najeh Davenport and the mother of his child got into some sort of dispute Thursday.

Police are still sorting through conflicting statements and photographs that were taken to document whether anyone was injured.

Three calls were made to 911 -- including one by Davenport -- starting at about 8:45 p.m., police said.

Davenport, 29, was in Cleveland to pick up his sons for the weekend from their mother, Anita Person, 27.

The altercation took place inside Davenport's vehicle, but one witness claimed that Davenport assaulted the woman outside, police said.

Police questioned Davenport, and the matter was referred to the Cleveland police domestic violence unit.

Detectives from that unit will conduct more interviews and report their findings to the city prosecutor.
